TG 11 - YOUTH AND MUSIC
Project Location
The project takes place in the secondary station of Wessome which is one of the fifteen secondary stations administered by the Parish of Mary Mother of the Redeemer of Adidogome, in Lomé, capital of the Republic of Togo.
The Children’s Association of San Daniele Comboni (which currently has 50 members) is a group of children and young Catholic Christians who work in various activities to follow our Patron Saint Daniele Comboni. The group was founded in the large parish of Mary Mother of the Redeemer of Adidogome on 30 March 1998 by Mrs Avotonou Emilienne, Aunt Michaëla, the seminarian Laye Elysée with the help of the Reverend Father Flavio Mazzata.
Project description
We feel the need to involve young people and children by helping them to discover their talents and put them into practice in community service. Currently we have a choir that animates masses, we do choreographic dances and we give a spiritual and human formation to young people. However, we don’t have our own tools and, whenever we need them, we have to rent them and find and pay someone to play them. Despite our efforts, we were unable to obtain the financial means to purchase the necessary instruments.
The general objective of this project is to technically professionalize the association of children of San Daniele Comboni through music and dance. To do this it is necessary to buy some musical instruments and give a small compensation to the two masters (of music and dance) who are giving our children and young people a musical, choreographic, but also spiritual and human training.
Objectives
- Strengthening the material equipment (instruments) of the choir
- Develop technical musical skills in young people and children
- To give spiritual and social formation to young people and children to better live their lives as young Christians.
Beneficiaries
Direct: about 50 children and young people of the Association
Indirect: the Wessome community and the families of young people
