TCH 12 - SUPPORT FOR THE DERESSIA FOYER

Project Location
The project is being carried out in Déressia, sub-prefecture of Tanjilé Est Laï, 500 km from the capital N'djamena and 45 km from the center of our diocese of Laï. Chad is one of the poorest countries in the world where the majority of the population survives only on agriculture. Given the social structure of the country, women are the most marginalized. The foyer can be an opportunity for the progress of women in a society like Chad where women have no rights.

Project description
Given the prevalence and frequency of early marriages in the country and the isolation of our locality, the girls of the sub-prefecture of Déressia cannot leave their studies. Even if the public education system does not work.
In view of this, the Comboni Missionary Sisters, the Apostolic Team and the parents considered it necessary to open a home and invest in the education of these girls to allow them to enjoy their rights to education.
Currently, the home welcomes twenty-seven girls who come from several villages further away from the parish. With the entire community and our closest collaborators who are sensitive to the reality presented, we are committed to supporting them in their material, psychological and moral life by contributing in different ways to their integral formation.
Families also actively collaborate in this educational process through a contribution in money or in kind according to their possibilities.

Objectives
- To improve the level of education of all the girls who are hosted in the shelter
- To provide a comprehensive education: human, moral education, etc., to enable young girls to realize their vocation
- To help girls to know their rights and duties to become free and responsible women, capable of contributing to a better future at the family and social level;
- To offer these girls an experience of fraternal life
