KE 15 - EDUCATION FOR PASTORALIST NOMADS
Project Location
The project is carried out in Alale, Amakuriat and other small surrounding communities. These are semi-arid areas, where even the nomadic and pastoral society is confronted with the culture of education and stability of the home. These communities depend almost entirely on the maintenance of goats, cows and camels. The nearest town is at least four hours away by car via dirt roads. The electricity system is inadequate, there is a lack of water and schools. Here, a family system based on polygamy prevails, early marriages and female gender mutilation make it difficult for girls to access or continue their education.
Project description
In a society where all the burden of the family falls on women who have to provide for almost everything in their family (food, wood, water, education), we want to focus on education as a tool capable of changing mentalities and lifestyles. We have therefore identified 20 girls who attend primary school and 15 students from secondary school and university, to whom we would like to pay the school fee through this project so that they can complete their studies.
Objective
- To guarantee quality education to 35 children and young people
Beneficiaries
Direct: 20 children from primary school and 15 from secondary school and university
Indirect: families
