UG 25 – SUPPORT FOR KANAWAT HEALTH CENTRE

Project Location
Kanawat Health Centre III is a Prívate Not for Profit (PNFP) facility located in Kanawat, Diocese of Kotido, Northern Karamoja. It was founded as a dispensary at the beginning of the 1970’s thanks to the determination and vision of Fr. Del Pero, Comboni Missionary, who entrusted through the years the health Centre to the management of the Comboni Missionary sisters. Despite the many challenges, they have contributed to its establishment as a respected and appreciated Health Unit in the region.
In 1988, as its activities intensified, it was upgrading to the level of Health Center III (with maternity services). At the present, the Health Centre has a 68 bed capacity distributed by: Pediatric Ward, Male Ward, Female Ward, Maternity Ward, Isolation Unit, Private Wing, Emergency Room and Perinatal/Gynecology Ward.
The Health Centre serves four parishes: Um Um with 7 villages, Nangayum with 6 villages, Rom-Rom with 8 villages and Lokore with 7 villages, making a total catchment population of 19.168 people.

Project description
The project involves the procurement of essential medicines and medical supplies to meet the needs of patients treated by the facility. The medicines will be sourced from reputable suppliers and will include a range of drugs for common illnesses such as malaria, respiratory infections, and diarrhea, among others.
The medicines will be stored in a secure and climate-controlled environment, and inventory management procedures will be implemented to ensure that medicines are used before they expire.
