SSD 31 - SUPPORT FOR ST. JOSEPH'S SECONDARY SCHOOL IN GIDEL
Project Location
The project is at St. Joseph’s Secondary School in Gidel Mission-Nuba Mountains, Sudan. There are very few secondary schools within the Nuba Mountains region. The best in the area is St. Joseph’s secondary school, which is under the Catholic diocese of El-Obeid.
Project description
This project aims to ensure quality education for students through not only theoretical but also practical learning of science. Furthermore, needy students will receive support in terms of food, stationery and school fees and this will help them succeed in school.
Paying school fee and purchasing food and other basic needs is a major obstacle for several students. To meet these expenses, many of them have to return to their villages which are up to 7-10 hours away on foot. Supporting them would allow them to remain stable in school, concentrate better and succeed in their studies.
Most students do small jobs during holidays and weekends to contribute to school expenses and other needs.
