SSD 27 - EXPOSED TO THE GLOBAL WORLD
Project Location
Renk is located in Upper Nile State, on the Eastern bank of the White Nile. Renk is growing rapidly in its population and development because of its geographical position (60 Km South from the border between the Republics of Sudan and South Sudan), and its natural resources (fish, sesame, cotton and sorghum). The security of Renk is relatively stable at the moment.
We are seeing many people who had left the town because of the insecurity now returning so it has created a high demand for education. Since the war broke out in Khartoum, Sudan, Renk has become a passage town for the South Sudanese who are fleeing the war and returning to their country, many times exhausted and carrying few belongings.
Project description
In our Primary school (Comboni Basic School) we have about 1.150 pupils male and female. Each class (from Primary one to Primary Eight) has two streams (A and B). In total we also have 27 teachers (9 female and 18 male) and 4 workers (1 watchman and 3 female cleaners and cooks).
In Renk, most of the people have no exposition to the global reality. Out of our 27 teachers only 1 or 2 can use computer. This makes a big challenge when it come to prepare examinations that they are unable even to type or exploring global information to transmit to the learners.
With this project we aim to help both teachers and pupils to have access to this important means of communication. The projector and the laptops will be used for some instruction to the learners and the teachers so that they can acquire some skills of using computer. The Desktop will be used in the administrator’s office.

- To promote Computer knowledge to our teachers and learners.
