SSD 21 – WAU ELDERLY CARE
Project Location
The project is taking place in Wau, the second city of South Sudan, a country devastated by a civil war that has caused hundreds of thousands of deaths and millions of displaced people.
Project description
This project involves visiting and taking Holy Communion to some elderly people some of whom have psychiatric conditions. In my observation most of them are alone, abandoned by the families and are therefore left with no one to cares for them. They really live in miserable conditions such as poor housing, lack of healthcare, lack of basic need such as food and cleaning agents like soap among others.
Their reality is very painful as they are stripped of their human dignity to live as according to me they deserve to be loved, cared for and live People created in God’s image. The project caters for 30 elderly people who need more help in order to improve their living standards. Giving them the necessary care will make them to feel loved and so age gracefully.
