SSD 08 - EVANGELIZING THE YOUTH IN A POST CONFLICT AREA
Project Location
The project takes place in Cueibet, in the Catholic Diocese of Rumbek where the youth face challenges of post-conflict recovery, poverty, and limited access to education. Youth ministry therefore plays a critical role in offering hope, stability, and guidance to the young people and hence to the entire community.
Project description
At St. Francis Parish in Cueibet, we guide over 60 youth towards a deeper faith through active roles in the Church. These roles include altar serving, choir, and outreach programs. Despite facing poverty and post-conflict challenges, the youth ministry provides spiritual formation, leadership training, and life-skills development through workshops, community visits, spiritual recollections and other events.
Our goal is to form Christ-centered youth who bring hope, unity, and positive change to the Church and the wider South Sudanese community and become agents of peace and healing in their communities. The activities will therefore help them to foster a deeper relationship with God, promote Christian values, and enhance their leadership, peacebuilding, and life skills.
