RDC 02 – SUPPORT CHILDREN IN DIFFICULTY KISANGANI
Project Location
This project takes place in Kisangani, Democratic Republic of Congo, a large city, which is 1,500 km from the capital Kinshasa. Kisangani is an important point for trade, thanks to the presence of the naval port and the international airport, and is defined as the commercial capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Its population is very diverse: it is made up of different ethnic groups, while the languages spoken are Swahili, Lingala and several local dialects. The commercial language is French.
Project description
Given the difficult scholastic situation in the country, the Comboni Sisters have always taken to heart the problem of education, especially for women. This project aims to support 12 children in difficulty. These children attend different schools; we usually choose those closest to their home and of which we are certain of the quality of the education imparted.
Each school determines its own tuition fees and given that the state pays teachers very little, schools are often forced to ask for a contribution from parents. With this project we would like to pay the school fees for 6 primary and 6 secondary school children, furthermore, where families do not have funds to contribute, we plan to also cover part of the school materials and uniforms.
Objectives
- Taking care of children in difficulty, providing them with complete basic and technical training
- Giving these children the opportunity to achieve technical training to obtain a state diploma.
Beneficiaries
Direct: 6 primary school children and 6 secondary school children
Indirect: families and society
