ITA 03 - 1,000 DAYS OF SOLIDARITY WITH THE LITTLE ONES

Project Location
ACSE (the Comboni Association for Migrants and Refugees) is located in Rome and has been conducting its activities since 1969. Its services, targeted at people of about 40 different nationalities, include reception and information of newcomers, Italian language courses, computer courses, legal advice, job orientation and a dental clinic.
The aim is to increase the instruments for integration, offering support to people who find themselves in a situation of poverty and marginalization.

Project description
When offering our various services we realized that often, for these vulnerable families, the birth of a child led to an increase in difficulties, mostly due to the lack of basic goods for children. This is why Sr Lucia, together with a group of volunteers, has decided to start this project that aims to follow the newborn from birth until the age of three. At the time of the happy event a welcome package is provided to the family, worth 100/150 euros, containing a cover, sheets, overalls, dresses, baby bottles, cots and bibs. In addition, every week packages are provided to cover primary needs, containing diapers, wipes, shampoo and body cream, biscuits for children and, if necessary, milk powder. The welcome kit has a value of about 100/150 euro, whereas for weekly parcels we spend about 500 euros per month.
